Before you send money to any broker

  1. Find the firm on its regulator's own register (FCA, CySEC, BaFin, ASIC and so on), reached from the regulator's website, not from a link the firm sent you.
  2. Check that the website, email address and phone number match the register entry. Clone firms copy everything except these.
  3. Search the firm's name and website on this page and on the regulator's warning list.
  4. Treat any request for a fee or "tax" before a withdrawal, crypto-only deposits, or pressure from an "account manager" as a stop sign.

Questions

What does a regulator warning mean?

A financial regulator has published a notice that a firm or website is offering investment services without the authorisation needed in its jurisdiction, or is pretending to be an authorised firm. It is the regulator’s statement, not ours; the linked notice is the source.

What is a clone firm?

A scam that copies the name, address or licence number of a real, authorised firm so that a register check appears to pass. The tell is the contact details: the website, email or phone number differ from the ones on the regulator’s register entry for the real firm.

A firm is not on this list. Is it safe?

Not necessarily. The list only holds warnings published since we started logging them, and scammers switch names and domains often. Look the firm up on its regulator’s own register and check the contact details match before sending money.

I have already sent money to a firm on this list. What now?

Stop sending money, contact your bank or card issuer straight away, and report it to the police and the regulator that issued the warning. Be wary of anyone who then offers to recover your money for a fee: recovery-room fraud targets people who have just been scammed.

Reuse this list

The compiled list is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 with a link back to this page. Warnings remain the regulators' own statements.

Listing reproduces a regulator's published notice and is not a finding by FX-Brokers. Clone warnings name the firm being impersonated, which is usually legitimate; the warning concerns the impostor. If you believe an entry is wrong, the issuing regulator is the authority to contact. FX-Brokers earns affiliate commission from some brokers; none is involved in compiling this list.
