Best Forex Brokers with Free VPS in Europe

Reviewed by Markets Desk · FX-Brokers EU editorial

Automated trading strategies — Expert Advisors on MetaTrader, cBots on cTrader, or Pine Script webhooks on TradingView — need uninterrupted connectivity and a short network path to the broker’s trade server. A VPS hosted near that server provides both, and several brokers provide one for free if you meet a minimum volume, balance or client-category condition.

We compared the free VPS terms four brokers publish — qualification, hardware and any latency they state — quoting each broker’s own VPS page (checked 24 September 2026) or our broker data. We do not measure VPS latency ourselves.

Quick Answer

Admirals publishes the clearest free-VPS terms for EU retail clients: its CySEC-regulated EU entity offers a free VPS to anyone holding at least EUR 5,000 equity in a live account, with no volume condition stated. IC Markets sponsors a VPS from 15 standard lots a month on forex and metals. Pepperstone’s EU entity reserves its free VPS for Pro clients.

Ordered by how completely each broker publishes its eligibility terms for retail clients. Terms quoted from the brokers’ own VPS pages, checked 24 September 2026.

ESMA Risk Warning

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. A high percentage of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

What Is a Forex VPS and Why EA Traders Need One

A forex VPS is a remote Windows server, typically hosted in the same data centre as your broker’s trade server, that runs your trading platform and automated strategies 24 hours a day without interruption.

24/7 Uptime

Essential

Expert Advisors and cBots must run continuously to catch every trade signal. A local PC is vulnerable to power cuts, Windows updates, internet drops, and hardware failure. A VPS with redundant power and connectivity eliminates all of these.

Low Latency

Essential

A VPS in the same data centre as the broker's trade server (for example Equinix LD4 in London or NY4 in New York) has a far shorter network path than a home broadband connection, which helps automated entries and exits reach the broker quickly.

Platform Isolation

Important

Running MT4/MT5 on a VPS isolates it from your local machine. You can shut down your PC, travel, or use a different device while your EAs continue executing. Multiple MT4 instances can run on the same VPS with separate logins.

Reduced Slippage Risk

Essential

Orders that reach the broker sooner are less exposed to price moves in transit. For scalping EAs and high-frequency strategies this can decide whether a trade fills at the intended price or slips.

Multi-Broker Capability

Useful

Third-party VPS providers allow you to connect to multiple brokers from one server. Broker-provided free VPS plans are typically restricted to that broker's platforms; how many terminals one can run depends on the plan's hardware, which most brokers here do not publish.

No Additional Software

Useful

Broker VPS plans come with MetaTrader pre-installed and pre-configured for their servers. Connect via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) from any device — Windows, Mac, tablet, or phone — and your EAs are ready to run within minutes.

Admirals — Clearest Published Terms for EU Retail Clients

Admirals Europe Ltd (CySEC 201/13) offers a free VPS to clients who hold at least EUR 5,000 equity in a live trading account. Its VPS page states no trading-volume condition, runs MetaTrader 4 and 5 on a Windows environment, and says the service is hosted in Equinix data centres with access renewed monthly. It does not publish hardware specs or a latency figure. Requests go through Admirals’ VPS service page or its VPS support address.

An equity-only condition suits traders running low-frequency EAs (swing bots, wide-interval grids) whose volume would not reach the lot-based thresholds other brokers use. Source: Admirals free VPS page (Admirals Europe Ltd, CySEC 201/13), checked 24 September 2026.

IC Markets — Volume-Based Sponsorship from 15 Lots a Month

IC Markets sponsors a VPS subscription with partner providers once your volume reaches 15 standard lots a month on its Standard tier (higher tiers require 30 and 75 lots). Only forex and metals volume counts, and the subscription is cancelled automatically, without notice, after two consecutive months below the minimum. IC Markets states that its ForexVPS partner gives “1 millisecond” latency to IC’s live server; that is IC’s own claim, not a figure we measured. Our broker data also records a USD 5,000 deposit condition.

These terms come from IC Markets’ global site (IC Markets VPS page (Raw Trading Ltd, FSA Seychelles SD018), checked 24 September 2026); the EU entity’s site did not publish a VPS page, so EU clients should confirm eligibility with IC Markets (EU) Ltd (CySEC 362/18). IC Markets publishes an average EUR/USD spread of 0.02 pips on its Raw Spread account, with $3.50 per lot per side commission.

Pepperstone — Free VPS for Pro Clients

Pepperstone EU Limited (CySEC 388/20) offers its free VPS only to Pepperstone Pro clients who trade the required volume; the EU page does not publish the volume figure. Its Basic plan lists 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB SSD and Windows Server 2022. Pepperstone’s global VPS page, which covers its non-EU entities, sets USD 1,000,000 notional volume over the past 60 days for its entry plan and describes latency “as low as 1ms” — neither figure is stated on the EU page.

Pro (professional) status is a real trade-off: professional clients lose retail protections such as the ESMA leverage caps. Retail clients should treat Pepperstone’s free VPS as unavailable. Pepperstone offers raw spreads from 0.0 pips on its Razor account with $3.50 per lot per side commission, and supports MT4, MT5 and cTrader. XM — Free VPS for Qualifying Clients

Our broker data records that XM offers free VPS hosting to clients who meet minimum deposit and volume thresholds. XM’s VPS terms page could not be retrieved when we checked on 24 September 2026, so we do not quote its equity, volume, fee or hardware figures here — check them in XM’s client area before relying on the VPS.

XM is regulated by CySEC for EU clients and offers Micro, Standard, Ultra Low and Shares accounts. The Micro account suits small-size live testing of an EA before scaling up.

When to Pay for a Third-Party VPS Instead

A broker’s free VPS is optimal when you trade with a single broker, meet the volume threshold naturally, and run a small number of EAs. In several scenarios, a paid third-party VPS is the better choice.

Multi-Broker Setups

If you run EAs at several brokers at once, a single third-party VPS in Equinix LD4 or NY4 can connect to all of them from one server. Providers such as ForexVPS.net, BeeksFX, and FXVM sell monthly plans with multi-broker support and larger RAM allocations; check each provider’s current pricing.

High Resource Requirements

Broker VPS plans come with fixed hardware, and most brokers here do not publish it. If you run many EAs, backtest during live trading, or use memory-hungry custom indicators, a paid VPS sized for that load avoids performance bottlenecks.

Volume Below Threshold

A trader running a single swing-trading EA that trades only a few lots a month will not reach IC Markets’ 15-lot threshold. Paying for an independent VPS is cheaper and safer than forcing extra volume to qualify. Admirals is the exception here, requiring only account equity.

Operating System Control

Broker VPS plans are locked to Windows Server with limited admin access. If your strategy requires Python scripts, custom libraries, or Linux-based tools alongside MetaTrader (running via Wine), a third-party VPS with full root access is necessary.

How VPS Location Affects Your Trading

Latency — the round-trip time between your trading platform and the broker’s trade server — affects fill quality. For manual traders the difference between a nearby VPS and a home connection is rarely noticeable. For automated strategies placing many orders a day it matters more. The table below is a qualitative guide; actual latency depends on the provider, the route and the broker’s server location.

Where Your Platform RunsRelative LatencySuitable For
VPS in the broker’s data centreLowestScalping EAs, news-trading bots
VPS in the same cityLowMost EAs, grid bots, swing bots
VPS in another regionModerateSwing EAs, low-frequency strategies
Home broadbandHigher and variableManual trading, very low-frequency EAs
Mobile / Wi-FiHighest, least stableNot recommended for automated trading

Slippage depends on volatility, liquidity and order size as well as latency; during high-impact news it can widen at any latency.

Free vs Paid VPS: What the Conditions Cost You

A “free” VPS has an implicit cost: the volume, equity or client-category condition attached to it. The table below sets out each broker’s published condition next to the paid alternative.

OptionConditionIf Not MetBest For
Admirals Free VPSEUR 5,000 equity (no volume condition stated)Monthly renewal depends on the equity conditionLow-frequency EAs, swing bots
IC Markets Sponsored VPS15 lots a month on forex and metalsCancelled without notice after 2 consecutive months belowHigher-volume EAs
Pepperstone Free VPSPro client status plus required volumeNot stated on the EU pageTraders who already qualify as professional clients
Third-party VPS (ForexVPS.net, BeeksFX, FXVM)Paid monthly plan; no broker volume conditionN/AMulti-broker traders, heavier workloads

The decision framework: if you already meet one broker’s condition through your normal trading, its free VPS costs you nothing extra. If you would have to trade more than your strategy needs, or you split volume across brokers, compare the provider’s current monthly price for a paid VPS against that extra trading cost.

Data Centre Locations: Where Your VPS Runs

For automated traders, the physical location of the VPS relative to the broker’s trade server is one of the main factors in execution latency. The brokers below cite Equinix data centres, the same facilities used by institutional trading firms and banks. Locations are as recorded in our broker data.

Data CentreLocationBrokers Citing ItSignificance for EU Traders
Equinix LD4 / LD5Slough, LondonPepperstone (LD4), IC Markets (LD5)Major FX hub. The natural choice for EAs trading the London session.
Equinix NY4Secaucus, New JerseyPepperstone, IC MarketsUS session liquidity hub. Relevant for EAs trading USD pairs during New York hours; a VPS in London adds a transatlantic hop.
Equinix TY3TokyoPepperstone, IC MarketsAsian session hub. Useful for EAs focused on JPY pairs during Tokyo hours.

Practical recommendation: if your EAs mainly trade the London session, host the VPS in the same London data centre as your broker’s trade server. If you trade around the clock, Pepperstone and IC Markets both cite servers in London, New York and Tokyo, so you can choose the location closest to the liquidity you target.

VPS Setup Checklist for EU Traders

Setting up a broker VPS is a short job once access is granted. This checklist covers the essential steps from qualification to first EA trade.

1. Verify qualification

Check your current monthly volume (lots traded) or account balance against the broker's VPS threshold. Most brokers display this in the client portal under 'VPS' or 'Trading Tools'. Apply for the VPS through the portal — some brokers (Admirals) require emailing support directly.

2. Receive RDP credentials

Once the broker approves your request, it sends your VPS login details (IP address, username, password). Save these credentials securely — you'll use them every time you connect to your VPS.

3. Connect via Remote Desktop

On Windows: open Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe), enter the IP address, and log in. On macOS: use Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App Store. On mobile: use the RD Client app. The VPS desktop looks and behaves like a standard Windows machine.

4. Install or verify trading platform

Most broker VPS plans come with MT4/MT5 pre-installed. If not, download the broker's specific platform build from their website (not the generic MetaQuotes installer — broker-customised builds point to the correct trade server by default).

5. Log in to your trading account

Open MT4/MT5 and log in with your live account credentials. Verify the account number, server name, and connection status in the bottom-right corner. A green bar with 'X/Y ms' confirms a live connection.

6. Install and configure your EA

Copy your EA (.ex4/.ex5 file) to the VPS via copy-paste through the RDP session or a cloud sync service. Place it in MQL4/Experts (MT4) or MQL5/Experts (MT5). Restart the platform, then drag the EA onto your chart. Enable 'Allow live trading' and 'Allow DLL imports' if required.

7. Verify EA is running

Check the Experts tab (Ctrl+F3) for initialisation messages. Confirm the smiley face icon appears on the chart (not a frown). Place a small test trade to verify the EA can execute orders. Monitor the first few hours for unexpected behaviour.

8. Set up monitoring

Configure email or push notifications in MT4/MT5 (Tools → Options → Notifications) so you receive alerts on your phone when trades execute. Check the VPS daily via RDP for the first week, then weekly once stable.

Common mistake: running your EA on both your local PC and the VPS simultaneously with the same account login. MetaTrader allows only one active session per login — the second connection will disconnect the first, potentially closing open trades or stopping your EA. Always close the local platform before connecting via VPS, or use separate account logins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a forex VPS and why do EA traders need one?
A forex VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a remote Windows server that runs your trading platform 24/7 close to the broker's trade server. Expert Advisors (EAs), cBots, and other automated strategies require uninterrupted connectivity — a VPS removes the risk of local power cuts, internet outages, and PC restarts. A VPS hosted in or near the data centre where the broker runs its trade server also shortens the network path your orders travel.
Which broker offers the best free VPS for EU traders?
For EU retail clients, Admirals publishes the simplest terms: its EU entity (Admirals Europe Ltd, CySEC) offers a free VPS to clients holding at least EUR 5,000 equity in a live account. IC Markets sponsors a VPS from 15 standard lots a month on forex and metals (terms from its global site; confirm with IC Markets (EU) Ltd). Pepperstone's EU entity offers its free VPS to Pro clients only — professional status removes retail protections such as the ESMA leverage caps. Terms checked on each broker's VPS page on 24 September 2026.
What happens if I don't meet the VPS qualification threshold?
IC Markets states that the subscription is cancelled automatically, without notice, after two consecutive months below the minimum. Admirals grants access on a monthly renewable basis tied to the EUR 5,000 equity condition. Pepperstone's global VPS page says the same volume threshold applies each month to keep free access. Always check the broker's current terms, as policies change.
Can I run multiple EAs on a broker's free VPS?
Yes, within the plan's hardware limits. Pepperstone's EU Basic plan lists 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 100 GB SSD; most other brokers here do not publish their VPS hardware, so ask before running several terminals at once. If you need to run many EAs simultaneously, a paid third-party VPS with more RAM is more practical.
Is a broker's free VPS better than a third-party VPS?
A broker's free VPS is usually hosted close to that broker's trade server and costs nothing if you meet the threshold. A third-party VPS (ForexVPS.net, Beeks, FXVM) offers more control: custom OS, more RAM, multi-broker setups, and no volume requirements. If you trade with one broker and meet their threshold, the free option makes sense. If you run EAs across multiple brokers or need more resources, pay for a dedicated VPS.
Do all EU-regulated brokers offer free VPS hosting?
No. Our broker data records free VPS offers at Pepperstone, XM, Tickmill, FxPro, Axi and IC Markets, and Admirals publishes one on its EU site. Plus500 does not support Expert Advisors at all. Terms differ by entity, so check the page of the entity that would hold your account.
